Duncan is a Pig, Owned by Jessica in the Hinterlands in 2253 and is a side character in 'Fallout: Hinterlands.'
Background[]
Duncan is the happiest pig in the world, according to Jessica. Despite his deformaties, he always has a smile.
Jessica found him, on a farm and swiped him before the farmer woke up, figuring that he would just end up as bacon if she didn't. She vowed to keep him safe, no matter what.
It isn't known if he is a special species of pig or if this is just a mutation or possibly him being the runt of the litter but Duncan can't seem to grow much bigger than a small dog. As a result, he isn't much use in combat and can't carry much.
Duncan is, however, very loyal and seems to bring good luck to whoever he has imprinted himself on. Duncan always finds his way back to his master/mistress, if seperated and usually comes back to them a few days after seperation, with something different about him.
In the time travelling with Jessica, Duncan has returned with a better coat, a pouch full of caps tied to his pack, trimmed hair and even a nose ring at one point but Jessica hated it and had it removed. It would seem that Duncan makes a lot of friends, whilst roaming alone, in the wilderness but his stories will forever be his.

- He has no awareness of danger, given that he lets a wolf chew on him, without so much as flinching.
Behind the scenes[]
Duncan is named after the princess's dog in Richard Brittain's 'The World Rose.' Whilst reading it, it's way more fun to imagine him as a pig as the book doesn't explicitly describe Duncan as a dog on his introductory... Paragraph. It makes the book marginally tollerable whilst reading it high or drunk with friends.
